Trail bosses have the authority to tailor the guidelines for their specific events by discussing at the rider's meeting
1. No Enduro start or finish should run through the general pit area 2. There should be no more than four riders per minute. 3. All Enduros shall use a "dead engine" start at the beginning of the first loop. 4. There should not be a check within 3 miles of the start of the first loop. Subsequent loop starts do not have any free zone. 5. Riders should start each loop at the designated starting point. 6. There should be a Odometer calibration marker between 2-5 & 3.0 miles. (rev 12-10-2018) 7. Contestants should not start the next loop if they are more than 15 minutes late 8. Check markers should consist of stakes on either side of the trail and should be visible from 2 bike lengths distance 9. When Secret (non-tie breaker/MM) checks are used they should utilize red stakes/flags and Emergency (tie-breaker MM:SS) checks should use green stakes/flags. 10. Observation checks are not timed & should be identified with one white stake.(rev 12-10-2018) 11. Key time and course mileage should be posted at checks. 12. Free zone after a timed check is usually 2 miles (rev 12-10-2018) 13. Riders shall be penalized one point for each minute they are late to any secret or known check 14. Riders shall be penalized two points for the first minute early to a secret or emergency check, and five points for each additional minute early 15. There shall be no secret or emergency checks located in any section where the coincidence of a whole tenth of a mile and the sixtieth second of a minute occur closer together than .2 miles. 16. Mileage resets may be used. The purpose of a reset is to allow the rider to make up time without actually having ridden the reset distance 17. Resets cannot fall on a fraction of a mile other than a whole tenth. 18. A check should not be at the same place as a reset. 19. A rider may arrive up to fifteen minutes early at known checks without penalty. 20. Hazardous road crossings should be marked with down arrows on either side of the course 21. Course hazards should be marked with 1 down arrow 22. Time for a stopped rider can only be taken if the rider is clearly identifiable from the check location and within .10 miles of the check. Check personnel may not leave a check location for the purpose of identifying a stopped rider (Becker rule) 23. An error of mileage of more than plus or minus one tenth mile will revert the check to observation status. 24. Riders are to be grouped in the results according to the last check officially completed and then ordered by points lost within those groupings. 25. Results list riders in overall finishing position per number of loops ridden. 26. Score cards should be attached to the front fender (if attached to a location other than the front fender your departure from the check may be delayed while you suffer Ned's wrath) 27. Sunday event participants that arrive on Saturday are encouraged to sign up on Saturday 28. Riders shall be considered to be "obviously off course" and subject to DQ if observed riding at a distance greater than 50 feet (approximately 8 bike lengths) from the marked trail or if within 50 feet of the marked trail but on terrain that gives the rider a definite advantage over the rider that is on the marked course. |
