GEOCACHING |

2007 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Arizona
State Parks. As part of the celebration,
Cattail Cove State Park hosted a Geocaching
event to show folks how to use their hand-held GPS
devices and introduce them to the sport of
Geocaching.

The event was well attended... The morning
started with an introduction to Geocaching (a high tech
scavenger hunt), complete with personal instructions on
the use of their GPS. |

|

The Park Service had hidden several caches (small
containers holding clues) categorized by hike: easy,
moderate, hard; and by boat.
Our GPS took us on a trail along the edge of the
lake, here's a photo looking back at Cattail Cove.

This
group of Happy Cachers just located a small 35mm film
container, attached to a limb of the bush.Another
cache required a short hike down one of the many slot
canyons found in the area.

That afternoon everyone enjoyed refreshments and cake
celebrating the State Park Systems 50th b-day.
Rangers read off ticket numbers of lucky winners, who
collected numerous gifts donated by local Lake Havasu
City Businesses.
